As part of the initial equipment installation in 2000, the Nikolaus Fiebiger Center (NFZ) received its first cell sorting instrument from Beckman Coulter, a MoFlo Legacy.
In 2010, our cell sorting laboratory was officially recognized as a core unit for cell sorting and immunomonitoring. In 2012, we expanded our sorter inventory with a high-performance Beckman Coulter Astrios EQ. During the same period, our MoFlo Legacy was upgraded and modernized to a MoFlo XDP.
Since 2014, a second location has been established at the Translational Research Center (TRC) in Erlangen. The LSRFortessa system installed there provides research groups with supervised access to multiparameter analysis in the context of immunomonitoring studies.
In 2015, the laboratory at the NFZ underwent extensive renovations, including the addition of a new room, and was optimized to meet the specific requirements of cell sorting (i.e., independent cooling circuit, an aerosol-free compressed air supply cooled to -70°C to reduce contamination)
In 2018, the NFZ site was expanded with an additional Astrios EQ sorter witha safety workbench to ensure better operator protection during S2 sorting.
The gradual expansion of our existing equipment is intended to provide the researcher groups in Erlangen with access to the latest technology. Further investments are therefore planned and will be reviewed successively and implemented where possible.
Thanks to the extensive experience of our employees, with over 20 years of professional expertise in cell sorting and flow cytometrc analyses, we offer to our research groups a huge range of flow cytometric applications. We are also happy to assist researchers with establishing new staining protocols, optimizing cell preparation and designing antibody panels
The Core Unit for Cell Sorting Erlangen performs complex cell sorting experiments annually for approximately 150 customers from over 30 different institutions. The steadily increasing workload speaks to the success of our concept.
Our laboratory is barrier-free and wheelchair accessible.
We look forward to your applications. Please contact us by phone or email.
